Beyond the Magazine
Volleyball
Gathered on Grandma’s tidy lawn,
My family
Battles sun, wind, and
Mosquitoes
All for the sake
Of the game.
With smiles wider than the footbridge,
Hands are slapped,
And balls are pushed up
And slammed back down into
The dewy, green grass.
As I play,
My mind clears
And my eyes shine like sapphires
While my cares float away
On the wings of
The volleyball.
