Childhood is wandering miles to a gas station
For candy we didn’t want, we needed
Getting Airheads, even though I didn’t like them
And turning suckers into caped heroes

Childhood is being with friends
Riding bikes for hours, just so we didn’t have to go home
Making up rules to made up games, so you always win
Playing tag and losing to a tree.

Childhood is squirt gun fights that last for days
Battling for the tree house, till it’s rightfully yours
Calling a truce you know you will break
            And they know it too

Childhood is building traps to get your friends
But not understanding how a trap works
            So it does nothing
But pretending they got it anyway.
