A laugh in the air, sounding through the sky,
A light in the dark, casting ‘way shadows,
A flame burning bright, light where there is dark
A prayer on the wind, whispers among many,
An ember falling, but still burning fierce,
A star in the sky, while others are faint,
A hawk on the breeze, feathers flying free,
A place in my heart, that’s where it’ll be.

When there is no other laugh, it rises above pain,
When there is no other light, it undermines dark,
When there is no other flame, it burns brightly still,
When there is no other prayer, it whispers ever on,
When there is no other ember, it burns fierce as ever,
When there is no other star, it shines continuous,
When there is no other hawk, it rises through the shadows,
It stays in my heart through the thick and the thin.

It travels alone or it travels in numbers,
It always will return when we have shunned it,
It survives through the dark and helps bring others through,
It lives on, will live on, forever and always.

For it is a breeze, a whisper, a prayer,
For it is a light, a flame on a candle,
For it is an ember, glowing forever still,
For it is a hawk, riding on the wind.

For Hope is a star and a flame and a wind,
Forever being,
And forever living on.
Hope
