Cancer’s Back
The cancer’s back again...words we feared for years and years.
No one knew what they would do if it decided to take its course yet again… but my Papa did.
He told us not to worry
He’d be all right
They rolled him down the hall
Through the big dark gray metal doors
We were a little unsure about his return.
We waited seven days for him to wake up, everyday we prayed, please don’t let this be his last day, his last breath, we need him here with us.
God answered our prayers the following Sunday, we thanked Him every chance we had.
But again the cancer wasn’t gone, it returned yet again and again and again.
We all wondered why this was happening, was this some kind of punishment?
Still my Papa stayed strong, not only for himself, but for his family and we all continued to pray.
A little less hair later and some prayers left unanswered we all continued on.
I realized how beautiful life is as I watched my closest friend put up a struggle everyday just to say alive, just to make it those few more seconds, just to say a couple more I love you’s, and down to that very last precious breath.
We will never forget this wonderful man who left deep footprints on our hearts and impressions that will last forever.
