September Dreams
Last day of summer,
I am at the best place on Earth,
Cuddled next to you in my Chevy pickup
We’re stuck on a back road, no hurry to get out
The radio hums in the background,
While we dance in the field of dried grass
The moon is a spotlight on the lake,
Making my blue eyes shine and putting stars to shame.
Waiting for this night never to end,
My blue eyes cry in the midmorning,
I know that you’ll leave,
I put my head on your chest
Add one last flicker to my uncontrollable fire for you
