People sigh as they wait
for the bell to ring
shoes squeak
runny noses leak
and still no bell is rung.
Pencils scratch
and scribble words
as binders are clipped shut
hum of lights, tick of clock
and yet no bell will ring.
Staring into space
then to the clock again
no work gets done
they hold their breath and hope
that the bell will soon be rung.
