The Journey through a Book
I shiver as I approach the counter.
I have it in my hand.
It could be a monster,
a hero,
a heroine,
a ghost,
scary,
happy,
sad,
or happy and sad all at the same time.
My mind tingles with the possibilities.
Will they fall in love?
Will they have a tragic end?
Will it end in misery or happiness?
I am home now,
getting ready for,
sorrow?
death?
fairies?
bliss?
love?
fear?
or love and fear all at the same time.
I am opening the cover.
Will I read the last page first?
No, I will wait.
Here it comes, the very first page.
I read page
one
two
three
four
five
six
seven
I’m now halfway through.
I’ve decided to look at the last page.
I read that the heroine dies.
I feel,
saddened,
cheated,
embittered
angry
angry and embittered all at the same time
like I will never read another book again.
At least until tomorrow.
