They see life through color.
The bright pink of their Barbie’s dress.
The green smashed on their jeans after rolling in the grass.
Dora’s shiny ebony hair.
The yellow sun that awakes them in the morning.
The white moon and stars that kiss them goodnight
snuggled tight against the fuzzy brown teddy bear.
.
Lately, I’ve been seeing life in black and white.
Boring, cold, and lonely.
The epiphany brought back the color I’ve been missing.
And now, I see the beauty in the black and white I neglected.
There’s always beauty hiding.
It’s just looking under those grey rocks
Waiting for the lightning to escape from the black clouds and expose the sky.
Seeing the purity of white and its delicateness.
The flower was not colorless in its ashy appearance.
It was showing the meaning that the beauty lies on the inside.
But it’s us that need to not only see it..
But also expose it.
