Laughing in the Sun
My hair is just right,
Not flat but not puffy,
Flowing down my back.
I walk out the door to the bus stop
With a stomach filled of
Fluffy pancakes and bacon
Sausage and eggs
An omelet and hash browns
And grape juice
And I didn’t even have to rush to eat
Because school starts at 10:00 today.
My outfit is perfect.
I feel great about my body.
I stroll to the bus stop with my brother and sister
Laughing in the sun.
It’s not too hot.
My backpack isn’t heavy.
In fact I don’t have one.
I don’t need to bring any books to school.
I take my time boarding the bus.
I make a good joke.
Everyone laughs and keeps talking about it for the next few minutes
Until I make another funny joke
And everyone thinks that one is funnier than the last.
I get to school and I’m friends with everyone in every class.
I’m even friends with the teachers.
I’m the class clown
And the smartest in the class.
Everyone likes me.
Everyone knows me.
At lunch I get to eat McDonald’s without worrying.
I’m nice to everyone.
I never say a bad thing about the people I don’t like.
Everyone wants to be my friend.
A circle of people surround me,
Even people I don’t know.
I’m the captain of the best dance team in the world,
I’m a record-breaking track star,
I’m the best basketball player,
I’m starring in the school play,
I’m a cheerleader,
And I still have time to hang out with friends.
I get home finally
And talk with Elias for hours.
Chinese food is for dinner.
I sleep soundly tonight
With no worries
And wonderful dreams flood my imagination.
