Prairie Winds is a South Dakota project working to improve student and teacher writing. The project brings students and teachers into one-on-one contact with professional writers, including Kent Meyers, Jean Patrick, Monique Schmidt and Paul Higbee. An online magazine publishes original student writing and art, as well as works by teachers. The South Dakota Arts Council has supported Prairie Winds for more than twenty-five years.
