Dakota Writing Project and Prairie Winds Writing Project present a
Creative Writing Conference for high school students and teachers…

“West River, South Dakota – Writing Where We Are”
Wednesday, June 16th
8:00am – 6:00pm
This creative writing conference will be held at Bald Eagle Ranch on the Cheyenne River Reservation. Professional writers and writing teachers will lead writing groups for participants. We will focus on how places speak to writers and how location can be used in the creative process. The day is an opportunity to do lots of writing and receive one-on-one feedback on your work.
Special Guest: poet Lydia Whirlwind Soldier, author of Memory Songs
Lydia Whirlwind Soldier will join us in the afternoon to do a reading and presentation. This part of the day is made possible by the South Dakota Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Registration Deadline: Mon. June 14
Registration Fee: $15/person (includes 3 home-cooked meals)
We will celebrate the end of our day of writing with a supper of stew, fry bread, and wojapi.
