Writing
Monique Maria Schmidt
Monique is author of Last Moon Dancing: A Memoir of Love and Real Life in Africa available at www.cloverparkpress.com. Monique has an MFA in creative writing from Syracuse University. She has lived and worked in France, Japan, the West Indies, Central America, and Africa.
Paul Higbee
Paul has written several books, including Spearfish Canyon: A Journey Beyond the Rim available at www.royaltineimages.com. He is the Black Hills writer for South Dakota Magazine and lives in Spearfish, South Dakota.
Wendy Mendoza
Wendy is author of a poetry chapbook titled To Be Whole. She lives on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
Art
Lisa Howard
Lisa is an artist and art teacher living in Spearfish, South Dakota for the past 12 years. Lisa's artwork can been seen at the Spearfish Art Gallery, as well as Common Grounds in Spearfish.
Liz Richards
Liz Richards is a freelance publications illustrator and landscape artist living in the Black Hills.
Dick Termes
Dick Termes was raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota and returned to live there after teaching in Oregon and Wyoming. He has been painting since 1959 but has been painting on spherical paintings since 1968-1969 when he received his Masters Degree in Art from the University of Wyoming. He continued his pursuit with his thesis on the Termesphere concept at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles where he received his Masters in Fine Arts degree in design in 1971. He makes his home just outside of Spearfish in the Black Hills where he and his puppeteer wife, Markie Scholz, live in four geodesic domes. They live in two of the domes, the Termesphere Gallery is another and they share a two leveled dome for their studio. Termes' art ,Termespheres, have been sold all over the world. He also lectures and does workshops on his Math /Art direction in the United States and many other countries. Chapters on his spheres can be found in books like Masters of Deception by Al Seckel, M.C. Escher’s Legacy edited by D. Schattschneider and M. Emmer, Math and Art edited by Claude P. Bruter, Visualizing Linear Algebra with Maple by Sandra Keith, Malleable Matters/Stretchable Space by Rochelle Newman, and The Visual Mind: Art and Mathematics by Michele Emmer.
