Prairie Winds Magazine is a quarterly online publication.

Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis each year. Submission deadlines are Sept. 20, Jan. 20, April 20, and July 20. New editions of the magazine will come out by Oct. 1, Feb. 1, May 1, and Aug. 1. You will receive an email letting you know whether you work has been accepted for the magazine.

Please submit writing as Word or RTF format and visual art as JPEG files no larger than 2 MB.
Please include your school name and address and grade level.

Written submissions may be of any length up to 1000 words. With your submission, please include a statement that the piece is yours and original.

If your work is accepted, it will be copyrighted as part of Prairie Winds magazine, but you retain ownership and all rights.

Writers and artists will be credited for their work, but their hometowns and schools will not be listed.

A jury of three professional writers will read writing submissions. A jury of three professional artists will evaluate visual art submissions. Both juries will be looking for originality, intriguing themes, and rich imagery.

Writing or art that is published is the best from submissions across the state. You should feel proud if yours is published, but not discouraged if it isn’t.

Before you submit work, consider showing it to other writers or artists or a teacher who can give you ideas for fine-tuning the piece.
